ABOUT ME
My Teaching Philosophy
With a background of 15 years teaching English as a Second Language in China, I began my Master of Teaching course at Charles Darwin University in July 2018.
My main philosophy of teaching is that learning is a skill and anyone can learn. If I can engage students in a way that they find motivating, they will acquire the skills they need for themselves. For this I take a social-constructivist approach. It's my job to adapt to the needs of my students. I must continually reflect and improve so that I can help the students to become better learners. In this way, the classroom becomes a space where each student feels welcome, valued, and able to succeed.
"The biggest effects on student learning occur when teachers become learners of their own teaching, and when students become their own teachers."
- John Hattie, Visible Learning (2009)
